Square Smile Monoprint Original Art by Carrie Bergey – Green Black Yellow

Description

Title: Square Smile
Medium: Acrylic on Paper
Size: 12×14

:
Square Smile is a minimalist acrylic painting that evokes joy through simplicity. Set against a textured aqua-green background, the composition features a single charcoal-gray square placed where one might expect an eye, complemented by a sweeping black curved line forming a smile. The deliberate absence of a second eye challenges traditional symmetry, inviting viewers to find delight in imperfection. The soft, layered brushstrokes in the background add depth and movement, enhancing the playful yet introspective mood of the piece.

This artwork embraces abstraction and minimalism, combining geometry and expression to capture a moment of quiet cheerfulness with a modern twist.

As a traveler drawn to the mystery of the unreachable horizon line, Bergey creates each piece with a unique and familiar resonance that draws us to her journey. She uses muted neutral shades with subtle hues of color, nebulous shapes, and nostalgic forms that generate a particular and unforgettable reminiscence for each of us. Her atmospheric white space gives the mind a moment to rest and reflect. Meanwhile, her texture and composition of natural materials recall her eco-centric approach to life and art. Each piece draws us into the present moment and requests that we embrace our curiosity.See
