Description
This Noritake hand-painted breakfast set takes my breath away. When you hold it in your hand, its sublime femininity overwhelms. It is seafoam green with soft peach handles and nearly translucent in the sunlight. It is just divine.
It is almost perfect, well, except for the sugar bowl. The poor tiny piece must have had a disastrous accident, leaving it scared and chipped. I can imagine a talented restorer repairing it in the ancient Japanese method of Kintsugi. No more scars, just beautiful gold accenting its age and history.
Speaking of history, I did not remove the label on the bottom of the serving plate. It seems that Grace Porterfield Polk must have owned this set. I’ve been working on its provenance, and yes, I believe that the trailblazer of a woman once held these pieces. I can provide my research to you if you like.
The tray measures 10.5″ x 8.5″, the teapot with lid is 5.5″ wide from handle to spout x 4″ high. The teacup measures approximately 3″ x 4,” including the handle. The tiny sugar bowl is 2″ x 3-1/8″, the creamer is 2″ x 3.25″ including the handle, and the 2 piece toast rack is 3″ x 2.5″
It is just adorable!
