Michael Taylor for Baker Cocktail Table, Far East Collection, Circa 1960s

Description

Michael Taylor designed cocktail or occasional table for Baker Furniture.

Designed for Taylor’s iconic Far East collection where he took inspiration from ancient Asian design culture and combines them with principles of mid century modern design.

Sleek, refined, elegant design. The support structure has breath and tons of negative space. Combining modern design with traditional fretwork style techniques, almost mimicking a Greek key design.

Each detail on the leg is carved into solid wood. From the key shape to the slightly hooved feet.

The table top is finished with a book-matched Burl wood. I believe it’s walnut Burl. Has its original finish that is still in excellent condition.
